The Katniss Chronicles wraps up the Hunger Games

Tuesday has quickly become one of my favorite days of the week, and I have The Katniss Chronicles to thank for that.  This is the day that they release a new episode of their spectacular audio drama adaptation of the Hunger Games.  If you have not yet checked them out, I implore you to do so.  There are truly not enough great things to say about the work they have done with the show.  I didn’t know what to expect at first, having never really been exposed to an audio drama before, but I was absolutely blown away by it! Each week keeps getting better, more intense, more emotional.  The things the cast and crew have been able to do without any visuals at all is amazing.  The raw emotion that they convey with their voices alone is palpable, especially Barbra Dillon’s Katniss, there are just no words to do her justice!  Sadly, this coming Tuesday, March 20th will be the last episode of this chapter in the Katniss Chronicles. The Hunger Games will end and we can only hope that maybe, just maybe there will be Catching Fire in the future. Please read their press release below, and if you haven’t experienced the Katniss Chronicles for yourself, you need to do so immediately! I can personally guarantee you will not be disappointed.

The Katniss Chronicles Nears the Finish Line

Los Angeles, CA – March 15, 2012 - After launching in November 2011, The Katniss Chronicles will release the final episode of their unauthorized and unofficial audio drama adaptation of The Hunger Games on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, three days before the eagerly anticipated feature film from Lionsgate hits theatres.

Based on the first book of author Suzanne Collins’ best-selling Hunger Games trilogy, The Katniss Chronicles tells the story of Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old girl living in a post-war America where children are chosen to fight to the death for the entertainment of the masses in a nationally-televised annual event called the Hunger Games.

Created by fans for fans, and released for free through its website (www.thekatnisschronicles.com) and iTunes, The Katniss Chronicles has been received with great acclaim throughout Hunger Games fandom.  All episodes will be available for those who wish to hear the entire story in total, as well as for those who want to relive their favorite moments of the 17-episode adventure.

Producers are quick to mention that the final episode does not mean the end of the project, as several weeks of bonus material are currently scheduled for release after the final episode.   They also note that a special announcement will be made at the end of Episode 17 and urge fans to stay tuned for more information.

In addition to their production duties, the Staff of the audio drama has also lent their support to several Hunger Games-related literacy projects through the nonprofit site DonorsChoose.org.

In honor of the final episodes, The Katniss Chronicles has chosen to support the Hunger is Not a Game Food Drive initiative of the Harry Potter Alliance’s Imagine Better project (http://thehpalliance.org/imagine-better/hunger-is-not-a-game/) and will work with otherHunger Games fan sites to create the greatest impact possible.

The Staff and Crew of The Katniss Chronicles would like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement during the run and look forward to the release of the film and a long rest afterwards, before starting their next project.
