Naya Rivera would ‘love to play Johanna Mason’

Glee star, Naya Rivera, recently said she would love to play Johanna Mason in Catching Fire.  While we have no idea who will be cast as Johanna, Naya has been a fan favorite for a while.  She has read the books and considers herself a fan,  having expressed interest in playing the part over a year ago, as you can see here.  Many of us have a particular actress in mind for Johanna as she is a huge character in Catching Fire, is Naya Rivera the one you imagined for the role?  See excerpt from The Examiner below.

In a recent interview this morning with “Star,” the 25-year-old told about her interest in Suzanne Collins’ teen sci-fi trilogy and campaign to be cast as the past tribute Johanna Mason.

“I started reading [‘The Hunger Games’] books before I even knew they were making it into a movie. I’m just a huge fan,” she said in the interview. “I would love to play Johanna Mason. She’s the axe-wielding tribute and former winner … a real badass!”

Rivera also reported she’s grateful and excited for all her support from her fans on Facebook and Twitter to play the character role. “It’s so exciting. I get tweets every day … it’s good that they get behind something that I’m also passionate about.”

So, tell us, is Naya your Johanna?

  1. I imagined Johanna to be different…..But i guess she’d be pretty good for the role….She’s totally someone I can imagine getting the tracker out of Katniss’ arm….

  2. I think Naya would be PERFECT for the role for Johanna! Naya act mean and sweet; just like Johanna! I REALLY hope she plays this role.
