So, today’s strong rumor is that actor Sam Claflin, whose most recent film, Snow White & The Huntsman, came out in June, has been offered the part of Finnick Odair. I hate rumors, I really do, but I suppose one of Finnick Odair casting cannot be avoided. So, yes, according to Zap2It via HG Girl on Fire, this is what it is:
Sources tell Zap2it exclusively that the most coveted role in “The Hunger Games” sequel “Catching Fire” has been cast — and British actor Sam Claflin has got the gig. Official reps for the film won’t comment on the casting, but our reliable sources reveal that producer Nina Jacobson and Lionsgate have signed off on Clafin’s offer.
Here’s what some of our admins have to say about it:
Jessi says this:
I honestly do not know much about Sam, but I think he has the right look and I’ve heard a lot of good things about him. I’m a HUGE supporter of Armie Hammer for the role, and the Armie Hammer supporters seem to have a positive view of him, so that gives me comfort should he land the role.
Adam says this:
I wasn’t shocked when I heard about Sam Claflin, because we all had him pegged as the favorite…wait, WHAT??? SAM CLAFLIN??? What happened to Armie Hammer and Garrett Hedlund? (Takes deep breaths.) OK, now that my shock is over, I can kind of see this. I really enjoyed his work in The Pillars of the Earth, though I never ever imagined he could pose as the best-looking trident-wielder west of the Atlantic. This will take some adjusting. He does seem nice in interviews, but will the fans take to him? I need several days to really flesh this one out. For now, I’ll stand by patiently and give Lionsgate the much-deserved benefit of the doubt.
Kait says this:
My first thought is that I initally didn’t see the question mark at the end of this and nearly had heart palpatations, LOL!
While he’s not my first choice for Finnick, Sam is a solid choice! He’s good-looking, the right age, and most importantly, he can act. He has a great resume and I like him in everything I’ve seen him in.
I say this:
The first time I saw him, I found him very, very physically appealing. As far as his acting ability, I can’t say he’s either good or bad. In what I’ve seen him in, which is Pirates of the Caribbean-On Stranger Tides and Snow White & The Huntsman, he seems charming enough. But neither of those roles are as layered in character as that of Finnick. Nonetheless, I am confident the people behind the casting know what they’re doing and I am looking forward to when we get confirmation on him and the others as well.
Now, what do you say about this?

he definitely has the eyes!!!!
No! Please don’t pick him! He doesn’t look like the Finnick they describe at all!!!
I think I’ve come to the realization that there is just no one beautiful enough to play Finnick…..
